Rainy Day

It's Labor Day! I feel like Labor Day is the big orange front door to Autumn, which, as aforementioned, I anticipate more than the latest Nordstrom catalog arriving in my mailbox. It's always a bittersweet ending to "summer"...   Even though everyone in South Carolina knows that we have at least another good month of sweltering heat and sticky days. Like all good Southerners, we still send out our bounty of white jeans, linen dresses, and any other attire deemed too summery for post-Labor Day donning, to the dry cleaners for a thorough cleaning, so they can then be stored away until Easter.

Typically, Labor Day is an excuse to lay poolside or ocean-side with a chilly beverage and trash novel, soaking up the last rays of summer bliss. This Labor Day, however, I am cozied up at home. And while if the sun was shining, I'd be lathering up the sunscreen and heading to the pool, there are low dark clouds hanging overhead with the omen of rain.  Which is fine with me, as I am nursing a modest headache due to a beer tasting birthday party we dropped in on last night.  Nothing gives you a hangover like trying 3 oz. of 15 different types of beer- I couldn't stomach all of them, especially the dark beers, although there were some guests that were ardently checking them off one by one, attempting to guzzle all thirty. No sir, not me. I can't imagine how they must be feeling today...  (As a side note: this party was incredible! A 30th birthday bash for one of David's co-workers, the theme was "30 Beers for 30 Years." Presh. Apparently, his wife has an awesome blog, which I am to going to find, so I can share the specifics of this party for you.  Some people and their creativity, I swear! She must have spent months planning and it was executed with absolute perfection. And to top it off, she has 3 children and runs a dance studio! How is that for a day's work?? I was thoroughly impressed. Stay tuned for more specifics on this one, as soon as I stalk her blog out...)

Anyway, I am going to make my weekly grocery list this morning, run a few errands, and then park it at home for the rest of the day, and lazily enjoy my Labor Day... which is what Labor Day is for, right?

If only...

I had this mudroom...
